The following documentation updates have been made since the last release of this documentation:
Overview Guide
Introduction > User Roles: added a new User Roles diagram that shows how user roles relate to RBAC access levels and the typical interfaces they use.
BFC User Guide
Creating and Working with Grids > Create a Grid: updated procedure for working with the New Grid wizard. On the Xen and VLAN pages you can now create a smart tag. In earlier versions you had to exit the dialog to create a tag.
Creating and Working with Grids > How to Create a Grid: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator sets up a grid on the BFC. You use the New Grid Wizard and then you add users and configure group privileges to the grid.
Creating and Working with Grids > How to Enable High Availability on Networks with Tagged VLANs: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator enables High Availability (HA) on a grid with VLAN tagging. You review the backbone network and infrastructure configuration requirements, configure a basic, working grid, set up the switches, ports, and VLAN tagging, and enable network HA.
Accessing and Using the BFC > Configuring Users > User Actions in the User Properties Page: The User Properties page has been enhanced to let you work with the User Actions menu to enable, disable, unlock or delete a user.
Modifying a Grid > Grid Actions in the Grid Properties Page: The header in the Grid Properties page has been enhanced to provide more information about the grid and let you work with the Grid Actions menu on this page.
Modifying a Grid > External Storage Options: You can work with the Storage tab on the Grid Properties dialog to designate external storage for a grid. You can also switch from external to local storage, or modify properties for external storage you already designated. In earlier versions of CA AppLogic you could only designate an external storage default, which you would then assign during the grid create process. Now, the process is more dynamic, enabling you to change external storage designations after you create the grid.
Modifying a Grid > Edit Grid Parameters > Grid Parameters Reference: The jumbo_frames_mode parameter was added. Set this parameter to =enable to enable jumbo frames on the grid. Enabling jumbo frames increases throughput when using 10G hardware with CA AppLogic.
Modifying a Grid > How to Configure a Grid: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator configures a grid after installation. This configuration includes setting up email notifications on the dashboard, automatic volume repair, grid authentication, and grid properties.
Upgrading or Downgrading Grid Software > Download and Import Software Versions and Hotfixes: Work with available versions and hotfixes on the Versions overview page. The redesigned page allows you to selectively download versions and hotfixes to the local download location and then import them for use with a grid.
Administration and Advanced Options > Work with Alert Messages: new feature for reviewing and managing system alerts.
Installing the BFC > How to Install the BFC on an Existing CentOS System: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator installs the Backbone Fabric Controller on an existing CentOS system. This process enables you to run the installation in an environment you already configured with the CentOS operating system. Reorganized existing content.
Installing the BFC > How to Create an Install Image Using the Bare Metal ISO Tool and Install the BFC: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator can install the Backbone Fabric Controller in a bare metal environment from a single ISO image. You use the Bare Metal ISO tool to create the single ISO install image which you then use to install CentOS and the BFC. Configuration options include setting up the image for an attended or unattended installation. Reorganized existing information.
Using the BFC API > How to Retrieve Information about the BFC: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator retrieves information about your BFC server with the BFC API. This information helps you understand the BFC configuration before you modify the environment.
Using the BFC API > How to Configure Networks with the BFC API: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator configures networks with the BFC API. For example, you prefer using the API with a command line, or you prefer executing scripts for command sequences. Once you configure the networks, you can view and manipulate the networks through the BFC UI and other BFC API methods.
Advanced Maintenance Guide
Administration and Advanced Options > How to Maintain a Grid: This scenario describes how a Backbone Administrator performs administrative tasks and advanced operations on a grid. These operations include retrieving server information, checking the network health, and reviewing grid failures. BFC Maintainers can perform these tasks regularly.
Grid User Guide
Operating Grids > Provisioning an Application > How to Provision an Application: added a scenario on how to provision an application with the provisioning wizard. Reorganized existing information
Operating Grids › How to Migrate an Application: added a scenario on how to migrate an application with the migration wizard. Reorganized existing information.
Managing Grids > How to Copy Data to the Grid: This scenario describes how a Grid Administrator backs up grid data as a copy, also known as a hot backup. A hot backup includes an identical copy on the same grid because this backup represents a data snapshot in time.
Managing Grids > How to Migrate Data to Another Grid: This scenario describes how a Grid Administrator migrates data to another grid. Regular data backups can help to ensure availability against sudden hardware problems.
Quotas > How to Use Quotas: This scenario describes how a Grid Administrator creates and modifies quotas for individual users and groups.
OS Installations > Windows Installation: added support for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8 VDI, Windows 7 VDI, and Windows Server 2012 VDS
OS Installations > Linux Installation: added procedures that describe how to navigate through the installation wizards, and what values to select, for the various Linux distros that you can use with appliances.
