Host Defaults Page

Use the Host Default page of the Windows Client Options wizard to set host defaults for all hosts.

When there is a conflict between an Options setting in the Windows Client Options wizard and a host definition setting (right-click a host definition in the Host List window and click Options), the host definition setting takes precedence.

You activate your Host Default Options by clicking OK.

You can set the host default options for the system by doing the following:

Note: If you access the Options for host_name dialog from the Host List, any changes you make apply only to the selected host, and override the settings in the Windows Client Options wizard (for that host).

The following options are available from both the Host Defaults page of the Windows Client Options wizard and the Options for host_name dialog in the Host List pop-up menu:

Demo Mode

Lets you display object views in Demo Mode. That is, when an object is displayed when the host is in demo mode, it does not receive the data from the host, but obtains the data from the demo data repository. The object window provides reduced functionality in the Demo Mode.

Note: You can also display objects in Demo Mode by right-clicking an object in the object tree and selecting Display as Demo Mode Table. Using this option allows you to display object demo data without setting the Host in Demo Mode.

Display Unavailable Objects

Lets you view all objects, even if they are not available for the current host. If you change this option, you need to restart the Windows Client for this change to take place.

Hide Host Error Messages

Suppresses the display of error messages when tasks run. If you select this option, messages do not display. This means jobs do not pause because of pop-up messages and continue to run unattended.

Automatic Column Adjustment

If checked, the Windows Client can automatically adjust the width of all the columns in all tables to match the width of the data. For very large tables leave this option cleared. The table loads quicker.

Selection Mode

When selecting data from tables, either the entire row can be selected or only a block of data. If you are using Open Systems, you must choose Line mode.

Maximum Lines Selected

Allows you to specify the maximum number of lines that can be selected in a table when performing actions such as delete.

Open System View Execution

CA SRM can automatically collect object data when you open a table. In Manual mode, CA SRM only collects data after you click Execute.

Note: For User Views, this setting can be overridden by the setting in the Options page of the View and Output Definitions wizard.

Open System Save View Changes

This option helps you manage how changes to Open Systems user views are saved. If you want changes to be saved automatically, select Yes. If you do not want changes saved automatically, select No. If you want to be prompted to save your changes when you close the user view, select Ask.

If a default object view has been changed and saved, you can revert back to the factory supplied default view by right-clicking the object in the Object Tree and selecting Return to Default Settings.

z/OS View Execution

The Windows Client can automatically collect object data from the host when you open a table. In Manual mode, the Windows Client only collects data after you click Execute.

Note: For User Views, this setting can be overridden by the setting in the Options page of the View and Output Definitions wizard.

z/OS Save View Changes

This option helps you manage how changes to z/OS user views are saved. If you want changes to be saved automatically, select Yes. If you do not want changes saved automatically, select No. If you want to be prompted to save your changes when you close the user view, select Ask

If a default object view has been changed and saved, you can revert back to the factory supplied default view by right-clicking the object in the Object Tree and selecting Return to Default Settings.

z/OS Host Time Out (min.)

Defines how long the Windows Client should wait for a response from a z/OS host. It applies to requests for data from z/OS hosts.

Note: Maintenance tasks are not affected by this option.

If the time out is reached before the host responds, the error "Host is not responding" is raised. When a scheduled task times out, the task discontinues with this error and the next task is allowed to execute.

Default: 60 minutes

Allowed Range: 1 to 120 minutes
