Use the General page of the Windows Client Options wizard to configure the Windows Client general behavior. This page provides the following options:
If checked, all object windows reside inside the Main Windows Client window as child windows. Only the Windows Client name appears in the Windows task bar.
If unchecked, all object windows are separate, usual windows. All object windows names appear in the Microsoft Windows task bar.
By default the Windows Client uses a comma (,) to separate data in an output to a txt file. Specify desired symbol if you want delimit data in an output text file by a different sign.
The Scheduler is capable of sending email alerts whenever a scheduled task fails or encounters a problem. Type in the email addresses you want the email alerts sent to. You can specify more than one address by separating the email addresses with a semicolon (for example, email.address1@xxxx; email.address2@yyyy; email.address3@zzzz). If no email address is specified, no alerts will be sent from the Scheduler.
If a scheduled task fails due to a logon problem (for example, password expired), continuing attempts to logon by subsequent tasks can cause user ID revocation. To avoid user ID revocation, select one of the following policies:
Scheduler skips over tasks that are attempting to log on to the host where the logon problem happened. Tasks that log on to other hosts, even with the same user name, are executed as usual.
Scheduler skips over tasks that are attempting to log on to hosts with the user ID that encountered the logon problem. Tasks that log on with a different user ID, even to the same host, are executed as usual.
Note: The Scheduler applies the policy until you resolve the host logon problem. To resolve the problem and have the Scheduler work as usual, you have to fix the host logon problem and then use the Windows Client to connect to the problematic host. When you use the Windows Client to connect to the problematic host, the Windows Client removes the alert and the Scheduler ceases skipping the tasks.
The Windows Client sends emails directly to the recipient through the recipient's mail server using the SMTP protocol. However, some companies do not allow direct mail delivery. Specify the Mail Server you want the Windows Client to use to relay email messages.
When a relay SMTP server is set, the default SMTP port (25) is used. If you want to use an alternative port on the SMTP server, specify a different port number.
Specify user name that is authorized on the relay mail server. Your user name and password usually are qualified for this. The User Name is used if the relay mail server requires authorization.
Specify password that that is authorized on the relay mail server. Your user name and password usually are qualified for this. The Password along with the User Name is used if the relay mail server requires authorization.
The Windows Client can help you find email addresses in the company address book. To do this, the Windows Client utilizes Microsoft Outlook services. Check this option if you want the Windows Client to search for the Microsoft Outlook Address Book service. If you are using a different email client, leave this box unchecked.
Sets the default recipient to be used when output action is directed to email. You can change this recipient or add additional mail recipients when you define output to mail.
The Windows Client sends emails with the default artificial sender's address (Admin@Mail.SRM). Your email address is used as the "From" address, if the environment requires a real sender address.
By default, when the Windows Client sends a direct email, the user computer IP address is transmitted to the recipient as the sender host name. However, if the recipient company uses the reverse DNS lookup technique to check incoming mail legality, the email is filtered out.
To avoid this problem, specify a fully qualified server name (like myserver.mydomain.com) that has static IP address and registered name (that is, that passes this check). This name is transmitted to the recipient as the sender name.
You can visit http://www.lookupserver.com/ to check the computer name for lookup.
Defines the number of object views to be displayed in the Recently Used Views list. The Windows Client maintains a list of recently opened object views. You can display the list from the Clients drop-down menu option Recently Used Views or by clicking the Recently Used Views toolbar icon. When you select an item in the list, the Windows Client displays the object selected.
Defines the z/OS host to which the CA SRM host can be linked with. VantageSRMLink service defines the CA SRM objects on this host.
CA SRM objects on the z/OS host are refreshed periodically. Default interval is 60 minutes. If you want to change the interval, specify a different interval.
