Change Database Administrator Password

Change the Database administrator password. After you change the database administrator password, change the password in the following components:

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the system where Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio is installed.
  2. Click Start, All Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.

    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio opens.

  3. Expand the Security folder, and then expand the Logins folder under Object Explorer.
  4. Select the username sa, right-click, and select Properties.
  5. Type the password in the Password field and confirm the password.

    The password is updated.

    Close and reopen the instance by providing the new password.

    Note: After you have changed the database password, updated the password in the following components for the database:
