All the information required to perform a particular transmission is stored on a VSAM database, the VFS, as a transmission definition. Each definition is identified by a unique 1- to 12-character name chosen when the definition is stored.
The existence of a transmission definition on the VFS does not itself cause a transmission operation to start.
Addition, modification, or deletion of transmission definitions is performed online by authorized users. All information is entered and displayed on full screen panels using the FTS : Transmission Definition Menu.
