How Data Set Transmission Works

CA SOLVE:FTS lets you move copies of (or members of) data sets from one location to another.

Transmitting a data set is a two step process:

  1. The first step is defining the transmission. Transmission definitions are stored on a Virtual File System (VFS) VSAM database.
  2. The second step is the actual file transmission request. The definition provided in the first step is requested through the Transmission Supervision Menu or the XMIT (or TRANSMIT) command from OCS. The transmission then proceeds when possible (when an initiator is available and the INMC link is active, and so on).
