The following table shows the types of attributes supported for the input and output data sets and the possibilities that exist for reblocking during transmission. Only the generic type of attribute is shown (fixed, variable, or undefined) but data sets may also be blocked and contain printer control characters.
Note: Special considerations apply when transmitting from, or into, Generation Data Groups (GDGs).

File format is supported only for an image-copy transmission or if the input data set attributes are identical to the output. The output data set attributes are overridden with those of the input data set. IMAGE-COPY is an option on a transmission definition.
File format is supported. If required and not an IMAGE-COPY transmission, the input file will, if possible, be reblocked on receipt to match the attributes of the output file or those specified in the transmission definition.
