What You Need to Do

Mark all enhanced capacity cartridges correctly in the TMC, as follows:

• For sites with a CMS TMC, add a SERIES record with type ENHANCED specified to add the enhanced capacity cartridges to the TMC. Then run the VMTBUILD format utility.For more information, see SERIES Record.
• For sites with an OS TMC, use the TAPEINIT command with the DEN option to add the enhanced capacity cartridges.For more information about the TAPEINIT command, see the Command Reference Guide.

For sites that have 3480s and basic 3490s in addition to 3490Es, CA VM:Tape requires that those 3480s and 3490s be at a minimum microcode level. Contact your IBM Customer Engineer to determine whether the 3480s and 3490s at your site are at the required microcode level.
