The 3490E cartridge drive uses an additional media type, the enhanced capacity cartridge. The enhanced capacity cartridge shares the 36-track 38K and Improved Data Recording Capability (IDRC) densities with regular cartridges but can only be used on 3490E drives. Density Support for Various Tape Drives shows media and format information for each defined density name. Therefore, a density does not carry with it an implied media type.
Note: If you currently run in generic mode and want to run in enhanced mode, you must manually change the stored generic values to the applicable enhanced mode values.
Generic/Enhanced TMC Density and Media Values contains the DENSITY and MEDIA value settings necessary for NOEDRSUP or EDRSUP mode.
