Determine CA Business Intelligence Installation or Upgrade Path
Important! CA Technologies will discontinue support for CA Business Intelligence r3.2 in July 2014. We recommend that you upgrade to r3.3 SP1 to take advantage of the latest features and support.
You have several CA Business Intelligence installation and upgrade options:
New CA Business Intelligence r3.3 Installation and Upgrade to r3.3 SP1
If you do not have an existing CA Business Intelligence installation, perform the following installation and upgrade:
- Perform a new CA Business Intelligence r3.3 installation.
- Apply SP6 to upgrade to CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1.
Upgrade from CA Business Intelligence r3.2 to SP4/SP5 to r3.3 SP1
If you have an existing CA Business Intelligence r3.2 installation, you can upgrade with the following path:
- Upgrade to SP4 or SP5.
- Apply SP6 to upgrade to CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1.
Consider the following items:
- The actual BusinessObjects XI upgrade versions are r3.1 SP4, SP5, and SP6. However, you apply these patches to upgrade from CA Business Intelligence r3.2. To avoid confusion with the CA Business Intelligence version numbers, we refer to the BusinessObjects XI patches simply as SP4, SP5, and SP6.
- You upgrade directly from SP4 or SP5 to CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1; you do not have to upgrade to CA Business Intelligence r3.3 first.
- CA Business Intelligence r3.2 uses a MySQL database as the default database for storing internal BusinessObjects tables. CA Business Intelligence r3.3 uses a SQLAnywhere database and you must manually migrate your MySQL database to SQLAnywhere. For more information, see the CA Business Intelligence Implementation Guide that is provided on the CA SOI bookshelf and on the CA Business Intelligence r3.3 installation media.
