Upgrade CA Business Intelligence r3.2 to CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP5

Before you upgrade CA Business Intelligence from r3.2 to r3.3 SP1, you must have the CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP4 or SP5 service packs applied. At least one of these service packs is required to upgrade to CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1. For this procedure, you upgrade to CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP5. If you already have CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP4 or SP5 applied, then upgrade CA Business Intelligence from SP4 or SP5 to r3.3 SP1.

If your environment uses CA Business Intelligence 3.2 SP3 or lower, you are using Tomcat 5. We recommend that you upgrade to at least CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1, which supports Tomcat 6 and higher. Apache no longer supports Tomcat 5.

Note: The patch installations are similar to a fresh installation. You need BusinessObjects administrator credentials to install the patches.

Follow these steps:

1. Verify your current CA Business Intelligence patch number:
   1. On the CA Business Intelligence server, locate and open the biek.properties file, which is in the CA Business Intelligence installation folder.
   2. Locate the existing patch numbers such as "Patch1" and "Patch2." Each installed service pack is listed with an SP number, such as "SP4" and "SP5."
2. Download the CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP patches from the CA Technologies FTP site:
   1. Access ftp://ftp.ca.com/caproducts/CABI/CABI-3.x/
   2. Download the SP5 patch file from its folder:

      boexIR3_SP5/Windows/cabi-windows-BOEXIR3_SP5.zip

3. Extract the patch on the CA Business Intelligence server in a temporary folder.
4. Locate and run biekpatch.exe, which is in the root folder where you extracted the patch files.
5. Follow the installation wizard prompts.
6. Restart the CA Business Intelligence server.
7. Upgrade CA Business Intelligence from SP4 or SP5 to r3.3 SP1.
