Apply SP6 to Upgrade CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP4, SP5, or r3.3 to r3.3 SP1

Once you have completed installing CA Business Intelligence r3.2 SP4, r3.2 SP5, or r3.3, you apply the BO XI SP6 patch, which upgrades CA Business Intelligence to r3.3 SP1.

Follow these steps:

  1. Download the CA Business Intelligence r3.3 SP1 patch (cabi-windows-boeXIR3_SP6) from the CA Technologies FTP site:
    1. Access ftp://ftp.ca.com/caproducts/CABI/CABI-3.x/
    2. Navigate to and download the patch file:

      boeXIR3_SP6/Windows/cabi-windows-boeXIR3_SP6.zip

  2. Extract the patch on the CA Business Intelligence server in a temporary folder.
  3. Locate and run biekpatch.exe, which is in the root folder where you extracted the patch files.

    The CA Business Intelligence 3.3 SP1 Update Setup wizard opens.

  4. Click Next, then accept the license agreement, and click Next.
  5. Complete the fields for each screen as described in the following Steps and click Next after completing each screen:
    1. On the Existing CMS Information screen, refer to your Installation Worksheet. Use the following worksheet values:
      • Existing CMS Hostname: CA BI SQL Anywhere Data Source Name
      • Existing CMS Port: CA BI SQL Anywhere Port
      • CMS Administrator Password: CA BI SQL Password
    2. On the Automatically Re-Deploy Web Applications screen, select the Yes option.
    3. If you are prompted to upgrade an older version of Tomcat to Tomcat 7, click Next.
    4. Start the installation.
    5. Follow the wizard prompts.
  6. Once the installation completes, restart the CA Business Intelligence server.
  7. Verify that only the Tomcat7 service is running. If a Tomcat6 service is running, stop the service and set the service to the Manual Startup Type so that the Tomcat6 service does not restart when you reboot the CA Business Intelligence server.
  8. Launch Windows Services or use the BusinessObjects Central Configuration Manager.
  9. Change the Apache Tomcat 6.x service startup to Manual.
  10. Perform a non-tiered report installation.
