A service consists of hardware, software, or other resources that users request from the catalog. You create a service to group one or more service option groups together as a single service that users request. You manage services to meet your needs. Manage here means create, copy, edit, delete, cancel, and so forth.
Follow these steps:
The Services tree appears and displays the folders containing services, organized hierarchically according to categories.
Note: To add a folder at the top level (root folder), click Add and name the new folder.
Select the service and click Copy.
Specify which one of the following options you want to include in the copy:
Expand the tree and select the folder to which you want to paste the copied service.
Click the Paste icon or the Paste as Inherited icon.
The folder (and its child folders and services) or service is pasted to the new location.
Inherited services are named "Inherited from parent service." When the parent service is updated, the same updates occur in the child service automatically.
The service moves from its old location where you cut it to its new location where you pasted it.
Note: To paste the copied service to the top level (root folder), click the root folder and click Paste.
Important! Deletion is permanent. Deleted services cannot be recovered.
Do one of the following actions if the service that you want to delete contains inherited (child) services.
Note: You cannot delete a service or folder that contains inherited services or folders.
You have deleted the service.
Before you confirm the cancelation, review the effects of deleting a service. Canceling a service has the same effects as deleting a service on the related subscriptions and requests.
You have canceled the service.
Note: This step and the remaining steps apply only if you are adding or updating a service.
Your specifications are recorded.
After you define the service, users can subscribe to the service or can request it.
Each role and group (if applicable) receives the access rights that you specify to the new service.
If a role or group has permission to access the folder, the associated users can perform the following actions:
Conversely, if a role or group does not have permission to access the service, the associated users do not have these rights.
The system records your settings.
You have managed the service.
