Discovery is a feature that enables you to establish a comprehensive, current inventory of servers and software components across your networks. You can discover components and view a complete, cross-platform inventory of applications, including directories, files, registries, database tables, and configuration parameters.
Note: CA Server Automation discovery requires hostname resolution. If the IP address for a discovered server changes, CA Server Automation does not automatically resolve the IP address. As a result, the discovery profile fails to update the Management Database. If the IP address changes, rediscover the server.
When you assign a CCA server to a managed server, server discovery is performed automatically. The next discovery is run according to the schedule set in the assigned management profile. You also have three ways to run discovery at any time:
