Configuration Automation

Configuration automation provides system and configuration management functions. These functions include system and software component discovery, server and configuration change detection, and the ability to update configurations through remediation. The functions are available for servers and services, applications, such as software components, and networks, such as IP subnets.

Note: These functions operate only for services that are placed directly under the Data Center node, not for services that are placed under other services.

Each system or service must have an assigned CA Configuration Automation server (CCA) for configuration automation features to function. When no CCA server is assigned to the system or service for which you try to perform a verification operation, you are prompted to assign a CCA server, and also management and access profiles in a pop-up dialog.

CA Server Automation connects to all servers in your environment, and collects and processes data in one location. You can determine which CCA server manages a specific server, but each managed system can only have a single CA Configuration Automation source.

When you add a system or service, you assign it to a CCA server, and management and access profiles. The management profile automates all discovery and management operations without user input. The following sections describe how to run individual CCA functions manually.
