Adding Entity Widgets to a Dashview
Add Entity widgets to dashviews using "drag-and-drop". The Entities tab lists the available entities. Drag them from the Entities tab in the Catalog pane.
Use the default widget settings or modify them.
Follow these steps:
- In the Catalog pane, select the Entities tab.
- Click on the desired category or use the filtering mechanism adjacent to category to view the list of entities under that category.
Note: The Metric category has a mandatory filter when trying to expand it. For more information, see Metric Filter.
- Drag and drop an entity from the list into an existing or new dashview.
- Right click on the widget (or click on the widget's menu) and select Settings. The Widget Settings page opens.
- In the General tab:
- In Title, type the name of the widget.
- In Description, type a description for the widget.
- In Entity, the name of the entity as it was set in CA Business Service Insight displays.
- In Entity Path, the entity type and parent entities in the hierarchy display.
- In Display, select the type of Widget (Speedometer or Alert Icon)
- Select the Show results check box to show the calculation result below the widget icon. This check box is enabled only when the Average calculation method is selected in the Calculation tab.
- Select the Show Border and Title check box to have the widget's information bar displayed. The ability to remove the border and title is useful when the Dashview has a background (e.g. a map) and many widgets are placed in specific locations to indicate specific details.
- In Alert icon size, select the viewing size of the Alert icon (Small, Medium or Large). This option is available for Alert icon widgets only.
- In Ranges, type the minimum and maximum values of the speedometer. This option is available for Speedometer widgets only.
- In Monitor, select what is the calculation of the results based on.

- Repeat steps a through d to add more custom navigations.
Custom navigation is useful to define a one-click drill-down path to another dashview. It provides the user with a rich explanation that can be fitted to specific situations such as from a country to a region, from a widget to a report, from a service to its impacted customers, etc. The target dashview can be hidden and displayed only when using the Goto operation. For more information, see GoTo Settings.
