Import

Import is used to import individual contracts, functions, and other individual entities. The imported file must come from the same version of CA Business Service Insight as the one it is imported to.

Note: In order to bring Contract Templates and Service Definitions (but not other entities) into CA Business Service Insight, create a Package and upload it.

Note: The "On Collision" options select what the system does when an imported file contains an entity with the same name as an existing entity.

To import data:

Use this procedure to import files that have been created using the Export function.

Note: This procedure does not apply to files created using the Package procedure.

1. Place the exported file that you want to import into the <installation directory>\packages folder.
2. Open the "File to import" dropdown list and select the file to import.
3. In "On collision", select one of the following options in the case of an imported entity having the same name as an existing one:
   • Skip and continue: Skips the file that is colliding and continues with the import.
   • Stop and undo previous changes: Aborts the import process and undo any changes made so far.
   • Rename and continue: Renames the file that is colliding by adding the number 1 and then incrementing by one as necessary and continue with the import.

     Note: To display the "Rename and continue" option, select Y in Administration, Site Settings, Advanced, Import/Export.

4. Click Import. The export file is imported into the system database.
