Connectivity Tab

Note: The steps described in this section are for Online adapters. If you selected the Offline mode in the General tab, see the Adding Offline Adapters Connectivity Tab section for details.

In the Connectivity tab, fill in the information about the connectivity between the adapter and the main CA Business Service Insight application server and various attributes that affect the communications protocol between them.

  1. In Adapter Listener Address, type the CA Business Service Insight server's network address. This attribute should have the same value for all adapters configured in the system and therefore should be defined as system default. For more information, see Setting Adapter Defaults.
  2. In Connection initiator, select Adapter or Server. This decides whether the adapter or the server (Adapter Listener) initiates communication between them. This parameter is important in cases where a firewall stands between the adapter and server, forcing the server to initiate contact.
  3. In Security level, select None or High. This defines the level of authentication between the Adapter and the CA Business Service Insight server.

If High is selected, click Generate in Security key to create a random key used to secure the connection between the adapter and CA Business Service Insight.

Note: The user can fill-in the Security key field manually by typing a 32-digit number.

  4. In Use acknowledge protocol, select:

Note: Setting this attribute to No, may result in lost events.

  5. In Window size, type the number of packets in a window (between 1 to 100). This field is applicable only when Use acknowledge protocol is set to Yes. If not specified, the default value is 10.
  6. In Packet resend timeout, type the amount of time, in seconds, to wait for an acknowledgement message before sending the packet again (between 5 to 3600). This field is applicable only when Use acknowledge protocol is set to Yes. If not specified, the default value is 60.
  7. In Packet size, type the maximum number of events in one packet (between 1 to 1000). This field is applicable only when Use acknowledge protocol is set to Yes. If not specified, the default value is 50.
  8. In Packet deadline, type the number of seconds before sending a packet that is not full (between 1 to 3600). This field is applicable only when Use acknowledge protocol is set to Yes. If not specified, the default value is 60.
  9. Click Save. The Adapter Wizard page General step is displayed.
