Add a Text File Adapter

Text file adapters process and gather the information stored in text files and pass them to CA Business Service Insight in the form of events. Text File adapters can process text files in various structures such as delimited files, XML files and log files.

Text File adapters are created using the Adapter Wizard, which is composed of the following three-step procedure:

• General

  Contains general information about the adapter, the way it is interfaced with CA Business Service Insight and the way it is processed and monitored.

• Data Source Interface

  Contains information about how the text files are processed and parsed.

• Mapping
  • Contains information about the structure of the input received from the data source.
  • Contains information about the way the input is translated into output events that can be sent to CA Business Service Insight.
  • Contains information about which output events are sent to CA Business Service Insight and on what condition.

These three steps are shown on the Adapter Wizard page in a step-tree pane.

To add a text file adapter

In the Adapters page click Add New/Text file adapter. The Adapter Wizard page General step opens.
