GUI Conventions

CA Business Service Insight uses uniform GUI conventions throughout the system for enhanced usability. Some of these features include: Tabbed interface, pagination on pages that include a large amount of information and breadcrumb links for quick navigation to previous pages.

Note: Use the menu or sub menu options to navigate between display pages. Do not use the browser Back button.

Front Page

Menu items are displayed according to user permissions. The default front page can be set according to user preferences.

For more information on how to set the front page, see Customizing User Preferences.

Main Menu

Clicking a Main menu item expands the menu to display submenus. Certain submenus can also be expanded. The options that are displayed in the main menu depend on the access rights.

For more information, see Roles.

Search Results Grid

The search results grid allows you to select which columns to view or hide, export results to CSV, and print search results. For more information, see Using Search Results Grids.

Mandatory Fields

The mandatory symbol on this and other windows and pages indicates a mandatory field that must be filled in.

Breadcrumb Trails

Breadcrumb trails list the main locations visited earlier. Each page can show a different breadcrumb trail based on how the user reached the page. Click a breadcrumb link to return to that page.

Note: Breadcrumb trails do not always display the full path. They show main pages only. Certain main pages override others in the breadcrumb trail.

Pagination

Pages that include a large amount of information include page numbers on the right bottom of the page. These pages list the search result information that could not be presented on the current page.
