6.2.2.7 CA NetSpy-to-CA NetSpy Communications


The CA NetSpy-to-CA NetSpy communication interface allows CA
NetSpy on one host to communicate with one or more CA NetSpy
installations on other hosts.

In the diagram above, CA NetSpys 01 and 03 transmit all
network measurement data to CA NetSpy 02, where it is logged
to SMF.  Because this raw measurement data is sent via the CA
NetSpy-to-CA NetSpy interface, no bulk data transfer program
is required to provide this central logging of Network SMF
data.

In the CA NetSpy SMF data logged on host 02, the SYSID field
identifies the host of the CA NetSpy that collected the
measurement data, say, host 01 or 03.  For example, CA NetSpy
01 collected response time statistics for APPL01 and, then,
transmitted this data to CA NetSpy 02. When CA NetSpy 02 logs
the data to SMF, the SYSID field will identify host 01, the
host on which the data was collected.  For further

The CA NetSpy-to-CA NetSpy Communications interface will not
create duplicate logging of CA NetSpy data to a single CA
MICS system as long as you do not transmit CA NetSpy
measurement data to a central site using both CA NetSpy-to-CA
NetSpy communications and a bulk data transfer program (or
courier system).
