6.2.3 Tivoli NetView

Tivoli NetView is a program product that provides online
network management functions and produces information which
may be used for management reporting, performance analysis,
capacity planning, and network tuning.  NetView consists of a
command facility, a session monitor, and a hardware monitor.
The session monitor and hardware monitor, which are discussed
in this section, provide information that is used by the CA
MICS Network Analyzer.

NetView is a program product that is built from other program
products.  The NetView Session Monitor was formerly IBM's
Network Logical Data Manager (NLDM).  Since the CA MICS
Network Analyzer originally supported this product, the
information for the NetView Session Monitor file and report
names have NLDM as the qualifier.  Similarly, since the
NetView Hardware Monitor was formerly known as IBM's Network
Problem Determination Application (NPDA), the information for
the NetView Hardware Monitor file and report names have NPDA
as the qualifier.  For consistency, all files added in the
NetView Session Information Area (NVS) have qualifiers of
NLDM.
