The VM HiperSockets Channel Activity report provides
information about HiperSocket channels. Only channels for
which "busy" conditions occur are included. HiperSockets is a
program that has the ability not only to directly communicate
with a program running within the same logical partition
(LP), but also to communicate across any logical partition
within the same CPC.
INTENDED USE:
The report is designed to help analyze HiperSocket channels
by path ID. For each ID, HiperSocket activity per second for
the partition and total for the system can be analyzed to
help detect bottlenecks in the I/O subsystem caused by
excessive path utilization.
FORMAT:
A tabular listing that contains one line of information
for each active channel configured during the reporting
period. Report is ordered by channel path ID. In addition
to the channel path ID, the following columns are shown on
the report:
CHPID - Hexadecimal number of the channel path
identifier.
SHRD - Indicator for the channel which can be either
YES for channels shared with other logical
partitions, or NO for channels dedicated to this
logical partition.
HIPERSOCKET ACTIVITY/SEC:
TOTAL FOR SYSTEM:
TRANSFERRED T_MSGS - The number of messages sent per
second for the whole system.
TRANSFERRED T_DUNITS - The number of data units per
second for the whole system.
FAILED T_NOBUFF - The number of sends per second that
failed due to unavailable receive buffers, for the
whole system.
OWN PARTITION:
TRANSFERRED L_MSGS - The number of messages sent per
second by programs in the own partition.
TRANSFERRED L_DUNITS - The number of data units per
second for the own partition.
FAILED L_NOBUFF - The number of sends per second that
failed due to unavailable receive buffers, for the
own partition.
FAILED L_OTHER - The number of sends per second that
failed due to other problems, for the own partition.
