This report produces a tabular listing of the processor
resource consumption for logical partitions defined in your
PR/SM complex for a user-defined interval.
Run-time execution parameters for this report include:
o the database unit identifier or identifiers on which you
want to report
o the range of file cycles on which you want to report
(both online and archive cycles are available)
o the SYSID of the system on which you want to report
o the length of the interval period on which you want to
report
o the period of time represented in the report
INTENDED USE:
Enables you to review CPU utilization for each LPAR
defined in your PR/SM complex. Includes the configuration
of your logical partitions.
FORMAT:
A tabular listing that contains one line of information
for each logical partition defined in the interval. The
following columns are shown on the report:
INQUIRY - The MICF inquiry identifier.
SYSID - The name of the system from which the
data was collected.
DATE - The date when the data was captured in
the CA MICS database.
RUN DATE - The date when the inquiry was submitted
for execution.
END TIME - The end of the reporting interval.
PR/SM CPU
TOT - The number of physical processors in the
PR/SM complex, or the number of physical
processors in the physical partition if
the system is running in physically
partitioned mode.
SHR - The number of physical processors that
are not dedicated to any logical
partitions.
LOGICAL PARTITION
NO. - The PR/SM partition number. When there
is an asterisk (*) in this column, this
line of information represents LPAR
management overhead that cannot be
attributed to any of the logical
partitions.
NAME - The name of the logical partition. In
addition to the LPARs you define, CA MICS
creates the LPAR named PHYSICAL to report
the LPAR management time spent managing
the physical configuration in the complex
(available under VM/ESA Release 2 and
above).
FLAGS
O (Owner) - If an "X" appears in this column, the
logical partition is the one that runs
the VM system from which the LPAR data
was collected.
S (Shared) - If an "X" appears in this column, the
LPAR shares the physical processors
with other LPARs. If the column is
blank, the physical processors are
dedicated to the LPAR.
W (Wait Completion=On) - If an "X" appears in this
column, the LPAR receives service from
the shared physical processors based on
the passage of a time interval (as
opposed to receiving service based on the
occurrence of an event).
C (Capped) - If an "X" appears in this column, the
PR/SM capping function is enabled. The
LPAR receives only up to its share of
physical processor resources based on its
processing weight.
LCPU CNT - The number of logical processors.
INTVLS - The number of monitor sample intervals.
WGHTS - The portion of shared processor resources
allocated to this LPAR. Valid values
range from 1 through 999.
DISPATCH TIME
TOTAL - The total physical processor time
accumulated by this LPAR during the
reporting interval. If WAIT
COMPLETION=On, total dispatch time
includes wait time.
AVERAGE - the average amount of physical processor
time accumulated by this LPAR in a
monitor interval.
% REAL CPU
AVG - The average percentage of the physical
processor resources that were assigned to
this LPAR during the reporting interval.
MIN - The minimum percentage of the physical
processor resources that were assigned to
this LPAR during the reporting interval.
MAX - The maximum percentage of the physical
processor resources that were assigned to
this LPAR during the reporting interval.
LPAR MANAGEMENT OVERHEAD
TOTAL - The amount of time used to manage this
LPAR during the reporting interval. For
the LPAR named PHYSICAL, this is the time
spent managing the physical configuration
of the processor complex.
% - The percentage of physical processor time
that was spent managing this LPAR as
opposed to doing work in the LPAR. For
the LPAR named PHYSICAL, this is the
percentage of time spent managing the
physical configuration of the processor
complex.
An example of this report is shown in Figure 3-12.

CALCULATIONS:
The Flags in the report are derived as follows:
O: the owner flag (OWNER) is set to "X" if the value
of LPRCOLCT is greater than 0.
S: the shared flag (SHRD) is set to "X" if LPRSHRMD
is greater than 0.
W: the wait completion flag (WAITF) is set to "X" if
the value of LPRWAITF is greater than 0.
C: the capping flag (CAPP) is set to "X" if the value
of LPRCAPP is greater than 0.
The number of dedicated physical processors (DCPU) is
computed by summarizing the value of LPRCPUCT for the
partition whose LPRSHRMD contains the value of 0.
The total number of shareable physical processors (RSCPU)
is computed as:
RSCPU = PRSMNOPP-DCPU
The average LPAR dispatch time (AVGLPDTM) is computed as:
AVGLPDTM = LPRLPDTM/LPRLPAR;
