Save Notes Directly to the System

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the metric note.

    The docx file attached to the metric appears in the Notes pane.

  2. Click "Edit in Word" to download the file and open it in Microsoft® Word on the Business Service Insight client.
  3. Click "Open" to open the file in your instance of Microsoft® Word.

    Note: Selecting “Save” (to save the file on the Business Service Insight client) or "Save as" (to save the file with a different name) or "Save and Open" disables the ability to refresh and view changes in the Notes pane.

  4. Edit and save the file normally.
  5. Go to the "CA BSI" tab in Microsoft® Word, and click the “Upload” button.

    The message "Upload Notes Successfully" opens. Click OK to close the message.

  6. In the metric notes, click Refresh to display the changes on the metric notes pane.
  7. Click Apply to save the changes and continue to edit.
  8. Continue to edit the docx file as needed. Repeat steps 4 - 7 to display and apply changes.
  9. Click Save to save the changes and exit to the list of contract metrics.

Follow these instructions to view a metric notes from within Metric Notes.

Follow these steps:

  1. Select the contract and the metric and open the Notes tab.

    Metric Notes opens and displays five options (Upload, Download, Delete, Edit in Word, Refresh) on screen.

  2. Select Upload to open the browse dialog. Enter or browse to the proper location.
  3. Select the docx file and click Upload to upload the file to Business Service Insight.

    The file opens in the Notes pane in read only mode.

Limitations
  1. Writing and saving/applying a note in inline (HTML) mode overrides any uploaded docx file attached to the metric note. It is not possible to recover a file that you overwrite.
  2. When displaying a docx file which was converted to HTML, the layout is not always identical to that in Micrososft® Word. There might be differences between the Micrososft® Word layout and the converted html. The differences appear only when using the docx note for viewing. When the notes are embedded in a booklet the layout displays as you design it.
