Rich Text Format Editor Guidelines

The following are some guidelines for using the Rich Text Format Editor.

Note: The Rich Text Format Editor is an HTML editor and therefore does not support all Word capabilities. In addition, the capabilities that are supported by the Rich Text Format Editor are not always supported in the same manner as they are supported in Word.

Editor Configuration

The Rich Text Format Editor functions are controlled by configuration files. The configuration files are located in the <drive>:\WWWROOT\Oblicore\App_Data\Controls\RichTextEditor folder as follows:

Note: Any change to the Rich Text Format Editor configuration files should be communicated to and approved by CA Technologies.

Fonts Size

The Rich Text Format Editor supports font sizes 1 through 7 (not the popular MS Word scale that uses pixel sizes such as 8, 10, 12 etc.). This table shows the relation between the Rich Text Format Editor scale and the MS Word scale.

Font Styles

By default, the Rich Text Format Editor is shipped with a fixed set of font styles. The list of font styles can be changed by editing the list of fonts (under the root tag) in the Rich Text Format Editor configuration file:

<fontNames>
   <item name="Arial" />
   <item name="Arial Narrow" />
   <item name="Arial Black" />
</fontNames>

Note: A new list of fonts overrides the predefined list of fonts in the Rich Text Format Editor. Names of fonts should be identical to the standard names (i.e. as listed in MS Word).

Paragraph Capabilities
Bullet Points

The Rich Text Format Editor supports only circle bullet points. However, copy and paste of different bullet signs from MS Word for example should work.
