Data Set Name Record Format

The format for the data set name record is:

DSN

Specifies the data set name of the tape to be pulled. For simple data sets, only the most recent creation is pulled. If the data set name contains special characters or blanks, it must be enclosed within delimiters that have a character value less than A.

ccc

Is a numeric value of 0 through 255. The current copy (0) is the default. If using the system catalog, the relative generation can be specified for GDGs, such as (-1). If the data set name contains special characters or blanks, it must be enclosed within delimiters that have a character value less than A.

CJOB

Specifies the job name that created the data set.

VOLSER

Specifies volume serial number to pull. SCRTCH is specified to indicate output.
