When migrating from reel media to cartridge media, ensure that your method of migration updates the TMC to reflect the tape’s new status as cartridge tapes. This chapter describes two migration methods that maintain the integrity of the TMC. You can develop alternative methods of migration, but you must take care to update TMC fields properly.
Important! Do not use the procedures in this section to convert CA VM:Backup, CA VM:Archiver, or CA VM:Tape reels.
Note: For CA VM:Archiver reels, use the Merge-Purge utility; contact CA Technical Support for assistance. For CA VM:Backup and CA VM:Tape reels, create new backups on cartridges, but allow old backups on reels to expire. For more information, contact CA Technical Support.
