Use the CA VM:Schedule interface to CA VM:Secure to control the CANCEL, QUERY, and SCHEDULE commands. When this interface is in place, CA VM:Schedule first determines whether the user has CA VM:Schedule NOPASS authorization. If not, the rules database is searched for an applicable rule.
If a pertinent rule is not found, CA VM:Schedule prompts users for the logon password of the user ID that will own the job. If users are scheduling a job for their own user ID, they are prompted for their logon password (unless they have CA VM:Schedule SKIPPASS authorization). Note that CA VM:Schedule security is available if rules are not found. For that reason, you want to maintain your current CA VM:Schedule SKIPPASS and NOPASS authorizations.
If you specify NOPROMPT on the JOURNAL record in the VMSCHED CONFIG file and you add ACCEPT rules, the ACCEPT rules override any password provided on the CA VM:Schedule command line. The benefit is that if you change your logon password and still want specific users to be able to schedule jobs for your user ID, you do not have to tell them your new logon password. They can continue to specify your old password on the CA VM:Schedule command line, and not even realize that you have changed your password.
Note: The DAY and TIME rule options on the ACCEPT and REJECT rules apply to the time the CA VM:Schedule command is issued. There is no effect on CA VM:Schedule scheduling options or job initiations.
