Step 6: Configure and Generate the CA VM:Secure CP Component

You must now configure and install the CP component using the VMXCPG EXEC. The following sections explain how to configure and create the CP TEXT files, provided on the VM:Secure distribution tape as members in a text library.

Note: For more details on the VMXCPG EXEC, see the Reference Guide.

During this step of the Rules Facility installation, CA VM:Secure TEXT files are applied as local modifications to your VM system and replace dummy IBM modules. These TEXT files are known as the Access Control Interface (ACI).

Note: For more information about these TEXT files, see the IBM access verification routines documentation.

Different versions of the VMSECURE TEXT files are distributed in the XZVMnnn TXTLIB . The version used is based on the level of your VM operating system. The VMXCPG utility produces the release appropriate HCPxxx replacement TEXT files for you to use in system generation. Ensure you install only the replacement text files appropriate for the version of CA VM:Secure and VM that you will be running.

A different version of these TEXT files is supplied for each release of VM that is supported by IBM. You must select the version that matches your VM system release, and specify it when you run the VMXCPG utility. The utility combines the configuration information in a file named VMXRPI CONFIG with the VM release specific version of the Access Control Interface TEXT files to produce a set of files named HCPxxx TEXT.

To generate the replacement TEXT files you optionally modify the template configuration file, VMXRPI XCONFIG, rename it to VMXRPI CONFIG, and then run the VMXCPG EXEC. The VMXRPI CONFIG file is an input file to the VMXCPG EXEC, and contains records that control the interface between CP and CA VM:Secure. You can either customize these records for your site or use the supplied values.

To generate a CP nucleus containing the CA VM:Secure ACI Exit routines, follow the procedure Installing Access Control Interface Exit Routines in the VM Control Program.

Note: For more information about the VMXRPI CONFIG file, see VMXRPI Configuration File Reference.
