Rules Facility Features and Concepts
The Rules Facility enables you to create rules that control access to system resources such as data on minidisks and tape. You can define rules at the user, security group, and system level. This chapter provides information about the components and features in the Rules Facility. It explains rules in general, how rules are evaluated, and the role of the rules database.
- Your security administrator can create system rules that apply to all users, such as allowing everyone to link to a disk that contains CMS HELP files.
- Designated security group managers can create rules that control access to resources for a department or a specific group of users.
- Individual users can create rules to control their own environments. For example, an executive can create a rule to let his assistants access his user ID with their passwords.
