Use the Export wizard in conjunction with the Import wizard, to copy User Views, Solutions, Consoles, and Host connection definitions from one client machine to another.
Observe the following:
All items on all the Export wizard pages are selected for export.
The Windows Client Export dialog is displayed.
By default the entities are exported to MyExports.mdb in the BrightStor SRM Data\Central directory. Use the Windows Client Export dialog to indicate you want to export the entities to the default export file name and directory or that you want to specify a different directory, export file name, or both.
The export file must be exported to or copied to a directory the import machine has access to before you start the import process. Consider using the Export: Specify the export file dialog to specify a directory that both the export and import machine have access to. For example, a directory on a shared file server.
Note: The export file must be a Microsoft Access MDB file. This means the file name extension must be mdb., do not change the export file extension when renaming.
The Windows Client Export dialog provides the following options:
Closes the Export wizard and exports the entities selected to the MyExports.mdb file in the BrightStor SRM Data\Central directory.
Important! When you click Yes, you overwrite the existing MyExports.mdb file and subsequently, any previously exported items it contains.
Displays the Export: Specify the export file dialog. Use this dialog to specify a different directory, export file name, or both. The Export: Specify the export file dialog has the typical Windows browse to another directory and file renaming options. In addition, it has the following:
Creates the export file to the directory you specify and displays a confirmation window. Click OK to close the confirmation window and the Export wizard.
Note: Even though you might have specified a different directory, export file name, or both, the system also overwrites the existing MyExports.mdb in the BrightStor SRM Data\Central directory of the exporting machine.
Cancels the export and displays a cancellation confirmation window. Click OK to close the cancellation confirmation window and close the Export wizard.
Note: When you Cancel the export, the system returns the MyExports.mdb file, that existed prior to starting the export process, to the BrightStor SRM Data\Central directory.
If you created an export file, the entities are exported to the export file and directory accordingly and you can continue to the next step.
Note: Consider moving existing export files (for example MyExports.mdb) in the importing machine to another directory for safe keeping before you perform the export or copy.
Indicates you want to use the default MyExports.mdb file in the BrightStor SRM Data\Central directory of the importing machine for importing entities. The Windows Client Import dialog closes and the Introduction page of the Import wizard is displayed. Go to step 5.
Displays the Import: Specify the export file dialog. Use this dialog to specify a different directory, export file name, or both. The Import: Specify the export file dialog has the typical Windows browse to another directory and file name selection options. Browse to the directory and select the export file containing the entities you want to import. Click one of the following:
Opens the selected export file, closes the Import: Specify the export file dialog, and displays the Introduction page of the Import wizard. Go to step 5.
Cancels the import and displays a cancellation confirmation window. Click OK to close the cancellation confirmation window and close the Import wizard.
Important! By default, no items are selected on the Import wizard pages. You must move from page to page and select items you want to import.
Note: Importing items on each page can have consequences. For more information, see the help topic for each page of the Import wizard.
All the items on all the Import wizard pages that you want to import are selected for import.
The entities are imported to the importing machine.
