CA Service Catalog lets you create and maintain a catalog of IT services, for example, for hardware, software, or virtual resources. The catalog includes predefined services, and you can create your own services. Users browse the catalog and request the services that they want. You can optionally use Accounting Component to provide billing and chargeback for the requested services, and to perform other financial tasks.
On each CA Service Catalog computer, you upgrade all product components. The components are as follows:
The base files are required to install and run the CA Service Catalog components successfully. The base files include CA Service Catalog code, CA Technologies licensing code, Java Runtime Environment (JRE), and other third-party software.
Catalog Component enables you to create and maintain services in a catalog. Users browse the catalog and request the services that they want.
Note: Service View was a component in past releases, but is no longer a component. Its functions are now included in the Catalog Component.
Catalog Content supplies the predefined services in the catalog. Examples include services for requesting hardware, software, and other IT essentials from your business unit.
Accounting Component provides billing and chargeback for the services that users request from the catalog. You can also use Accounting Component to allocate costs, prepare budgets, and plan IT services.
When you upgrade CA Service Catalog, the product database is upgraded. The database upgrade automatically includes any required updates to the CA Management Database (MDB). The MDB is the common, shared database for your CA Technologies products. The MDB provides the database schema for CA Service Catalog and other CA Technologies products.

Important! If you have copied the installation media to a network share, map a drive letter to this share. This mapping is required because a batch file runs as part of the upgrade, and batch files cannot run from a UNC path.
To upgrade CA Service Catalog, follow this process:
Note: We recommend that CA Service Catalog and all CA products that integrate with it share the same installation of CA EEM.
Important! First, upgrade all computers that have Accounting Component (formerly CA Service Accounting) or CA Workflow installed. Next, upgrade all computers that have Catalog Component, Catalog Content, or both installed.
You use the setup utility to set up the database, CA EEM, and the CA Service Catalog components, as follows:
