Snapshots
CA Configuration Automation can detect component or server changes by monitoring your enterprise using snapshots. A snapshot is a point-in-time copy of a server’s or service's software configuration. You can automatically recapture application inventories to archive configuration data into fully detailed snapshots that you can use for troubleshooting, recordkeeping, or release management and migration planning.
There are three snapshot types that you can use:
- Baseline snapshots - They are designed for change detection but they can also be used for comparing systems. There can be only one baseline snapshot per server.
- Standard snapshots - They are designed for comparing systems but can also be used for change detection. There can be one standard snapshot of each type (gold, silver, bronze) per server.
- Undesignated snapshots - Snapshots without designation can be used for comparing systems but they cannot be used for change detection. There can be multiple undesignated snapshots per server.
