Example: Analyst Creates an Incident

In this example, an analyst logs in to the REST interface on the server. The analyst wants to create an Incident for a network problem.

Follow these steps:

1. The analyst logs in to the REST mobile interface.
2. The analyst selects Create New Incident.
3. The analyst completes the following information:
   • Enters Analyst as the End User

     Note: Entering the first three characters of a user name opens the auto-suggest list. You can use any CA SDM contact in this field.

   • Enters ServiceDesk as the Assignee
   • Selects Open from the Status drop-down list
   • Selects 2-Soon from the Urgency drop-down list
   • Selects 3-Single Group from the Impact drop-down list
   • Enters a summary of the Incident

     For example, the summary specifies that the analyst cannot access the company network on a laptop.

   • Enters a description of the Incident

     For example, the description specifies the name of the end-user laptop on the network and hardware details.

4. The analyst selects Save.

   The Incident is created and a message displays the Incident number.
