Example: Add the Rule to the Activity Notification

In this example, you enable the Auto Notification option in the message template, and add the notification rule to the activity notification.

  1. On the Administration tab, browse to Notifications, Activity Notifications.

    The Activity Notifications List page appears.

  2. Select the Initial activity notification from the list.

    The Initial Activity Notification Detail page appears.

  3. Verify that the Object Type is set to Requests, so that the notebook appears in the configuration information for requests.
  4. On the Notification Rules tab, click Update Notification Rules.

    The Notification Rules Search page appears.

  5. Type App P1 Notify Manager in the Symbol field and click Search.

    The Notification Rules Assigned Update page appears.

  6. Select App P1 Notify Manager from the list on the left, and click the contact selection button (>>).

    The notification rule is in the list on the right.

  7. Click OK.
  8. Click the Condition link and select the new App P1 Notify Managers notification rule. (You can add additional rules by clicking the Update Notification Rules button.)

    The Activity Notification page appears.

  9. Ensure that the Auto Notification option is set in the message template as follows:
    1. Click the Notification Rule link on the Notification Rules tab of the activity notification.

      The Notification Rule page appears.

    2. Click the Message Template link.

      The Message Template Detail page appears.

    3. Click Edit.

      The Update Message Template page appears.

    4. Verify that Auto Notification is enabled.
  10. Click Save.

    When the activity occurs, the corresponding condition attached to the rule is implemented. If the condition is met (evaluates to true), a notification message that describes the ticket activity is sent to all managers.
