The NMCMD command processor can be invoked during your TSO session to perform online requests, or from a batch job by executing TSO in the background. The primary function of the NMCMD processor is to contact the specified region by logging on through the TSO Interface. This logon occurs in background mode and you need not be aware of the session between TSO and the region. When this session is established, any of the NMCMD subcommands can be entered for processing.
After entering a subcommand, the request is forwarded to the NCL procedure $USTSFTS running under User Services. This procedure creates the &FTS variables required for each request and calls the appropriate NCL procedure to perform the function.
Messages returned by the processing NCL procedures provide the initial status of each request. These are written to your TSO terminal by issuing TSO PUTLINE macros, but may be suppressed if desired.
Note: Functions invoked by NMCMD subcommands execute the CA SOLVE:FTS NCL Interface procedures. Hence any restrictions imposed by these procedures (other than those imposed by CA SOLVE:FTS itself) also apply to these TSO subcommands.
If a transmission fails for some reason, then you usually have to clear the condition and restart the failed request from within the Supervision option. Alternatively, other means may be provided by an installation (for example, through additional NMCMD subcommands to delete requests).
