Recreate the Vertica Metrics Database

Applies to CA6000 and CA6300 appliances

Recreate the Vertica metrics database to resolve database corruption. If the System Status page of the CA Multi-Port Monitor web interface indicates that Database Status is DOWN, and the database cannot be restarted, it is corrupted.

Database corruption typically occurs when the CA Multi-Port Monitor experiences a power outage or hardware hang.

Important: When you recreate the Vertica metrics database, all Session data is lost. Session data appears in the Analysis tab of the Multi-Port Monitor web interface.

Before you recreate the Vertica metrics database, verify:

Estimated time to recreate database: 5 minutes

Follow these steps:

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Stop all CA Multi-Port Monitor daemon processes:
    sudo /opt/NetQoS/scripts/stopprocs.sh
    
    
  3. Recreate the Vertica DB:
    sudo /opt/NetQoS/install/setupVertica.sh  --new
    sudo /opt/NetQoS/install/setupReplicateMySqlToVertica.sh
    
    
  4. Start all the CA Multi-Port Monitor daemon processes:
    sudo  /opt/NetQoS/scripts/startprocs.sh
    
    
  5. Use the System Status page of the CA Multi-Port Monitor web interface to verify the Database Status of the Metrics database is UP.
