6.1.1.3 NPM Network Session Accounting

NPM Network Session Accounting collects connect time and
traffic statistics for terminal sessions. This information
is gathered from the NCP NPALU (Network Performance Analysis
Logical Unit). NPM Network Session Accounting differs from
NPM Network Collection (also derived from the NPALU) in the
following major respects:

o Network session accounting identifies each session's
partners, that is, PLU and SLU.

o Network session traffic statistics are for LU sessions
and never include line overhead, such as polling and
   retransmissions.

NPM writes network session accounting data to the SMF type 28
record, subtypes '50'X, '51'X, and '52'X, which CA MICS
processes. It is your responsibility to archive SMF data on
a regular basis for input to CA MICS DAILY update process.
It you are running VM NPM, then it is also your
responsibility to transport the VM SMF-equivalent type 28
records to your CA MICS MVS host.
