3.2.1.1.8 Detail VMX User States Summary

This report produces a tabular listing of user states
(various wait states, running, and so on) in time sequence.
The information is summarized by the number of minutes
specified by the user as a run-time execution parameter.
Activity is displayed over the period of time specified by
the user, again as run-time execution parameters.

INTENDED USE:

This report is designed for monitoring the kinds of states
in which users are spending their time. It can be used to
see whether users are often waiting for a particular
resource (such as the CPU, or I/O).

FORMAT:

A tabular report in chronological order, where each line
represents a summarization of DETAIL data across a user-
specified period of time. The time column represents the
timestamp of the end of the summarized interval. The
first set of columns report on the VMDBKs in the dispatch
list, and what states they are in. Each value is an
   average for a monitor interval:

TIDL - Number of VMDBKs in test idle but not SVM
                (Service Virtual Machine) wait

SVM - Number of VMDBKs in SVM (Service Virtual
                Machine) wait

I/O - Number of VMDBKs in I/O wait

CF - Number of VMDBKs in console function wait

SIM - Number of VMDBKs in simulation wait

PAG - Number of VMDBKs in page wait

CPU - Number of VMDBKs in CPU wait

RUN - Number of VMDBKs running on a CPU

ASIO - Number of VMDBKs in asynchronous I/O wait

OTHER - Number of VMDBKs in an undefined state

QDSP - Number of Quickdisp VMDBKs in the dispatch
                list

TOTAL - Total number of VMDBKs in the dispatch list

The next two columns are for the eligible list:

TOTAL - Total number of VMDBKs in the eligible list

SVM - Number of VMDBKs on the eligible list that
are in SVM (Service Virtual Machine) wait

The last two columns are for the dormant list:

TOTAL - Total number of VMDBKs in the dormant list

SVM - Number of VMDBKs on the dormant list that are
in SVM (Service Virtual Machine) wait

An example of this report is shown in Figure 3-10.

SGPESVMW - Eligible List VMDBKs in SVM Wait
SGPCDORM - Number of Users in the Dormant List
SGPDSVMW - Dormant List VMDBKs in SVM Wait

CALCULATIONS:

The various elements to be reported on are summarized
across the user-specified time period, if necessary. All
reported elements are then averaged by dividing by the
   number of monitor recording intervals.

USAGE CONSIDERATIONS:

To obtain a detail report, with one line per monitor
interval, specify 0 for the summarization period in the
   run-time execution parameters.
