Format a floppy disk with the copy system files option on a computer that has Windows 98 (SE) OS. When the floppy disk has been formatted, it must contain the following files:
command.com
io.sys
msdos.sys.
Copy the sys.com, smartdrv.exe, and format.com files from a computer that has Windows 98 (SE) OS to the floppy. No other applications should be on the floppy because the disk space on a floppy is limited.
If you use the Microsoft client from Microsoft FTP server (see next step) you must also copy the emm386.exe and himem.sys files from the Windows 98 (SE) OS computer to the floppy disk.
