How to Work with the Sample Map Files

Each sample map file contains a different type of data that you can import. You can use each sample map file to view the example mapping rules for each type of data. To work with the sample map files, complete the following steps:

  1. Select a type of data mapping to examine and open the corresponding map file in the Data Importer. The mapping is loaded with its configuration and column mapping rules.
  2. View the data mapping details and import data using the sample map file.

Important! Use a test database (not a production database) when you load sample data with the sample mapping files. You cannot remove test data easily after it is imported into your database.

  3. Verify the results of the sample import by examining the data in the user interface.
  4. Define a data mapping using the sample map file as a template. Replace the sample data file with a customer-specific data file and adjust the mapping rules to reflect the fields in the new data file.
  5. Save or import data using the new mapping and view the results in the user interface.
