Sample Map Files

The Data Importer sample map files that are provided by CA Technologies and corresponding data files provide you with examples of how to map and import different types of data from your data source to CA APM. Each sample map file contains rules for mapping specific columns (fields) from a data file to specific fields in CA APM. After you use the sample map files to understand the concept of data mapping, create your own data mapping to suit your business needs.

For example, the hardware mapping.map file (with its corresponding hardware.csv data file) shows you how to map basic hardware data, including associated models, companies, and contacts. You can use the hardware mapping map file as a template for creating your own hardware asset data mapping.

You can find the sample mapping files, with their corresponding sample data files, in the following location:

[ITAM Root Path]\Data Importer\Samples

Important! Use a test database (not a production database) when you load sample data with the sample mapping files. You cannot remove test data easily after it is imported into your database.
