View a Sample Mapping and Import Data

You can view a sample mapping and import data to examine the results of the data mapping.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Administration, Data Importer, New Import.
  2. Enter a name for the import.
  3. Click Search and Load Map and select a sample map file name in the Legacy Map File field.

Important! Your map file and corresponding data file must be available on the CA APM application server. For more information, see How to Import Data.

  4. Specify the Advanced Settings and click Save.

The Basic Information, Exclusion Filter, and Mapping data mapping are loaded. The Mapping, Exclusion Filter, and Schedule areas of the page are now available for you to edit. The Mapping and Exclusion Filter areas display the data from the legacy map file.

Note: The sample map files do not use Exclusion filters. You can use the filter in your own data mappings to exclude certain records found in your source data file.

  5. Click Submit in the Schedule area to start the import now.

To view the import job for your current selected import, click Associated Jobs on the left side of the page. In the list of import jobs that appears, click Status Message to view the status of your import. The status includes the number of records that were processed, how many records were successful, and the number of errors or warnings.

You can also view the log file for more information about the import activity. In the list of import jobs, click View Log for your import.

  6. Examine the results of the import in the CA APM user interface when the import job is complete.
