Configure an Online Subscription Proxy

You can use the default server as your only online subscription server. In this case, all other CA Enterprise Log Manager servers will compete to download subscription updates from this one server. This configuration is suitable for a small installation, where additional online subscription proxies are not needed.

For a large installation, it is good practice to configure additional servers. When multiple servers are configured as online subscription proxies in an online environment, you can then select the proxies that each client can poll. When a client can contact multiple servers in a round robin fashion, it is more likely to be able to download the subscription updates in a timely manner.

The preconfigured download path follows: .../opt/CA/LogManager/data/subscription.

Only Administrators can configure subscription proxies.

To configure an online subscription proxy

  1. Click the Administration tab, click Services, expand the Subscription Module, and select the server to configure.

The Subscription Module Service Configuration for the selected CA Enterprise Log Manager server appears.

  2. Select the Subscription Proxy? and leave the Offline option cleared.

An online subscription proxy is defined with a selected subcription proxy checkbox and a cleared offline subscription proxy checkbox.

  3. To override a global setting, click the global/local toggle button to switch to local service configuration for the selected field, then make the needed changes.

Note: If you click the toggle button again to lock the field and use the global setting, the value gets changed to the global value at the next Update Interval, as defined in Global Configuration.

  4. Consider accepting the global settings for Update Start Time and Update Frequency.
  5. If this server is to download subscription updates through an HTTP proxy server that is different from the inherited one, switch to local configuration and edit the five fields that configure the HTTP proxy.
  6. If the modules you need to download for the CA Enterprise Log Manager product or operating system updates are different from the inherited settings, switch to local configuration and make the needed changes.
  7. Click Save.
