You can get CA Enterprise Log Manager subscription updates from a specified FTP site as an alternative to configuring scheduled automated updates. Implementing subscription updates offline enables you to keep your system updated when site policies disallow Internet access from any CA Enterprise Log Manager server. In this scenario, your default subscription proxy is configured as an offline proxy.
Implementing subscription updates offline can also be used, at your discretion, even when your default subscription proxy is configured as an online proxy. In this case, you change the configuration of the default subscription proxy to be an offline proxy. This configuration change populates the list of available modules to download from the offline proxy download path rather than from the RSS Feed URL.
When you move the available modules to download to the selected list, processing begins at the next scheduled update cycle. The proxy pushes content updates to the content repository; clients download the binary updates from the proxy and install the product and operating system updates. If modules included binaries for agents and connectors, you apply those updates separately through Agent Manager.
