Enable Migration of NTFS Security Settings
You can enable the migration of NTFS security settings and customize how NTFS security settings are applied for files and folders.
To enable the migration of NTFS security settings
- Open DMM Options Editor from the Start menu.
DMM Options Editor opens.
- Click the File Open toolbar button.
The Open dialog appears.
- Click Browse to locate the folder where CA DMM is installed, and then select the DDNAOptions.dox file.
The DMM Options file opens in the DMM Options Editor.
- Click the Security Migration branch of the DMM Options tree.
The Security Migration options appear in the right pane of the DMM Options Editor.
- Locate the Apply File and Folder Permissions option to apply NTFS security Information for files and folders during migration, and then select the option to specify how security is applied to the destination computer. You can select from the following:
- Never Overwrite
-
Does not apply the security stored in the DNA file.
Note: The file being migrated is applied to the destination, but the NTFS security for the document is not applied. The file inherits the permissions that may be defined for the parent folder.
- Always Overwrite
-
Erases the current security and applies the security stored in the DNA file for each file applied.
- Append
-
Keeps the current security (if the file exists on the destination system and has security defined) and adds the stored security for each file applied.
- Locate the Create Local User Accounts option, and then select whether to create local user accounts on the destination computer for any local users referenced in the NTFS security settings of each file or directory migrated. If you set this option to true, a local user account is created for each unknown local user that is referenced by the security for that file or folder.
- Click the Save toolbar button.
DMM Options Editor saves your changes.
- Close the DMM Options Editor.
The next time you use CA DMM, the changes to the Security Migration settings are in effect.
