The deferred migration process in CA DMM saves all migration data to a DNA file. The DNA file can get corrupted either during migration or afterward as the DNA file is stored to an unreliable disk, copied between disks, or as the disk hosting the file degrades over time.
File verification verifies the DNA file created by the deferred migration process and detects the corruption if any, in the DNA file. You can perform two types of file verification:
Performs a fast verification of the DNA file by checking the file headers and checksums and reporting the file corruption, if any. Quick verification can be done only if checksum is present in the DNA file.
Note: Checksum can be added only to the file created with r11.1. It will be added only if Verify DNA File option is selected in the options file.
You can configure quickest verification in the options file to automatically verify the DNA file at the end of the deferred migration process. Or, you can use the DMM Explorer to do file verification after creating the DNA file.
Performs a slow and thorough verification of the DNA file by checking all the file records stored in the DNA file to ensure data integrity. Surest verification can be performed only using the DMM Explorer.
Note: For more information about how to perform a quickest or surest verification, see the CA DMM help.
