Clear Events

Before you can clear an event, you must first acknowledge that event (see Acknowledging Events, in the previous section).

To clear an event, do the following:

  1. Click the event to be cleared to select that event.
  2. Pull down the Commands menu, and then choose the Clear Selected Event menu item.

Alternatively, click the right mouse button on the event to be cleared, then choose the Clear Selected Event from the popup menu.

Clearing a selected event changes the event priority to CLEAR.

If you are running Eventlist interactively, the event's source field is changed to “user” when the event is cleared. At the same time, the Cleared by field in your Eventlist window is updated with your username. If the event is also sent to other users, and they are displaying the Cleared by field in their Eventlist window, then your username will also be displayed in that window.

If Eventlist is running as an action routine, then the display name is used instead of the username to update the Cleared by field.

You can also set up Eventlist so that the event is removed from the display when it is cleared. See Chapter 13, “Using the Eventlist Interface,” for more information.
