Examining Events for a Specific System

To examine events that have already occurred on a specific serviced system

  1. Click the right mouse button on the icon representing the serviced system whose events you want to review. Then choose the Events ... menu item from the pop-up menu. This resets the system's icon color to the default neutral color and displays an event history window containing the most recent events for the system.

Alternatively, double click the left mouse button on the icon representing the required serviced system. You can only do this if you have set up this facility for showing event history as part of your customized setup. The chapter Customizing Console Manager explains how to do this.

  2. Scroll through the current set of events using the vertical scroll bar.
  3. To access the previous or new set of events from the log file, click the Up or Down Arrow buttons as required.

The system's icon is automatically reset to the default neutral color.

  4. Click the left mouse button on an event for the console log window to appear, showing the context of the selected event in the color for that event's priority as defined in the configuration database.

If you attempt to view events for a system that is currently being archived, then the following messages are displayed:

Archive already in progress
If an archive is started for a system that for which you are currently viewing the event history, then the event context window is cleared, and the following message is displayed:
System is being archived
